After realizing I had four cloud services going, and working off of two computers, I needed a fix. I have downloaded 5 apps that combine cloud services and what Ive found is that the BRICK is my favorite. What a great app. User friendly and easy. I have been so pleased with the app, no crashes on my watch and everything synced up nicely. Wish there was a quick link add to other apps/websites, want to add pinterest, among others. All in all Im very pleased.

The requirement for this app to access and post on my Facebook to use the Box portion of the app is highly offensive! DELETED
8 February 2013
When you start this app, it asks you to share on Facebook so you can "unlock" the app features. However, it doesn't unlock anything. You still have to purchase it to remove ads. Additionally, the share function doesn't even share out to any of the social networks listed in the app. There are a bunch of Win8 file managers out there and this one is the most misleading. Uninstalled.

It's a beautiful app, user interface is awesome and customization options are on par, but it's terribly sad that the connectivity issues are increasing rather than being repaired. First it was Box, which I'm sure was tied to Heartbleed, understandable but somebody should be working on it. Then it was Facebook, they say File Brick "developers have not set up this app properly for Facebook login." Now Dropbox fails to sign in. It wouldn't even by that big of an issue if you would address your users or respond to an email. I would be glad to purchase this app but will not do so when it doesn't work. If you'd like to respond you can start with the unanswered emails in your app_support_FileBrick@compal.com inbox. Edit (021715): Don't waste your time, app has not been updated since before Heartbleed was discovered. Could be an excellent app and looks great but isn't usable for much in the current state.
12 January 2013
I can't open certain common file types like Word documents (.doc) and others, especially from dropbox.
7 January 2013
Thanks for the update. Back to being great!
14 May 2014
It needs the option to select more than 1 file at a time (or even a whole folder) and do "open with...". That would be so useful. For example, if you have a folder filled with music only, and you want to add it all to a media player "now playing" list, that's not possible with this app, like it was in windows desktop.
Also, when you select a file or folder, it should give you the option "add shortcut on file brick menu".
Finally, the default action when you click on a file is to open it in the default player, and not file brick trying to open it itself. For example, if you click on an MKV file, instead of opening it in your default MKV player app, File Brick will try to open it itself and fails (just shows a black screen with an error message)

This idea of wrapping Windows 8's file system dialog for Metro in an app and then grubbing for money has to go. All of these apps are worthless. they offer less functionality than Explorer and are nor easier to use. They don't show the actual file system, but instead use built-in API's that anyone can access.
They should be banned from the store.

to many ads
26 January 2014
Seems like it might be a very useful app - potential 5 star perhaps. I haven't had a chance to realize it's full potential yet - I've spent way too much time researching, without success, an issue I'm having with logging in to Twitter via the Twitter "brick". I have no problem on my mobile or via a web browser - only with this app - I keep getting an error message stating "your login to Twitter is failed".
Aside from my google research I've emailed the developers from the File Brick support page on their website - have not received a response yet after 2 weeks. Will reconsider rating at some point - for now though - frustration and lack of support responsiveness renders it 1 star.
17 May 2014
Can't connect to Dropbox, Box and Facebook. Uninstalling it.
4 May 2013
Update: If you open a Dropbox file, edit it, and click save, it does not save changes. You have to open the file through Dropbox and save that way. In other words, good for viewing but not editing files.
Free version seems to work well with Drop box, Google Drive, SkyDrive, and Facebook. Good UI. However, it uses 43-65 megabytes of my RAM and the privacy policy states that it may use and distribute your personal information... although that might not be unusual for this type of app.
9 January 2013
Latest update no longer crashes.
26 December 2012
On install, most of the stuff (specifically Picasa) are not actually available without buying a full version of the app. They are clearly marked with a lock icon which does not show in the screenshots.
Screenshots lie.

Great file browser and much more! You can add tiles for folders, drives, etc. Having access to many cloud services and storage another big plus. I have tried others but always use this on as my standard.
19 June 2013
No Hard disks browsing, bulk ads. I use Skydrive builtin win 8. Super fast then this. Good Luck
11 May 2013
I like the basic functionality and appearance of the program, BUT, it needs to allow you to remove the 'locked' shortcuts that you don't care about, as well as allowing the user to change the background behind the tiles in the browser. The ability to play and view media files from within the browser would be a big plus much like Metro Commander allows one to do. All in all I do like the app but I see these as places it can be improved. and if they are changed, I WILL purchase the app.
28 April 2013
This App is probably one of the better FIle managers for the Modern UI. so far I haven't found one any better. But I do have one issue with the app. Customization. I would like the ability to create my own Folder groups and arrange the items any way I see fit. Right now you are kind of limited in this area. and i would also like an option when viewing files to Open File location. and this app dose not work with the back button on my Microsoft mouse. but other then that I have no complaints.
5 January 2013
Good app, but the latest update made it so the app doesn't launch when you tap it. It starts to launch and then you are returned to your Metro screen. I don't understand why these developers can't test their software before they release an update.
25 December 2012
Big issues so far:
1. Lack of breadcrumbs while traversing a hard drive, big issues. "Where was I again?" Give a list of the directories at the top, much like Explorer with the ability to click anywhere in the path to go there.
2. Lack of keyboard features, such as Alt+Left to go back. Microsoft has done a good job of making their Metro interface keyboard accessible, this should do the same to really fit in well.
3. Other issues, but a review can't fit them.
This is ONLY a file browser.
15 December 2012
Love the app. Easy to use. Wish there was a paid version so I could get rid of the ads
15 December 2012
Great app. Would give 5 stars if I could purchase it and remove ads.
11 December 2012
I've tried this, “File&Folders” and “Metro Commander”
I like this "File Brick" more, but I miss two important features
first of all and the most important one is “Open With”
the second one is File Search in the current folder with Charm Bar’s find
a tapable adressbar with back and up button is great
the user interface and cloud integration are nice but I hope a better tile design (a simple plain one which matches the metro style)
5 June 2014
Can't even select a file to delete it. Only option is select all.
18 May 2014
Best file manager for Windows 8.X so far (Metro UI)!
4 March 2014
I love being able to access all my cloud resources from one client. No ads and the GUI is perfect. Hands down better than all the other free competitors.
26 February 2014
Great app, a nice addition would be the ability to customize folder icons and tile colors.

After trying out multiple file managers, File Brick has the best UI and allows you to access multiple online file storage services. Also has a built in video player which in my opinion is nicer than the default windows one.
