SkyORB

SkyORB is a fast and lightweight astronomy app including a 3D star map, 3D planetarium, ephemeris with notifications, search engine, sun clock, point to sky, weather, and more. "We love SkyORB because it not only offers 3D images of the planets and the stars in the sky, along with comets and asteroids, but it also comes a 'point to sky' feature that allows you to aim your handset towards a star or planet and it'll identify it for you. " - PC Advisor ★★★★★ SkyORB features many functions as a 3D real-time representation of the planets position around the sun, warn the user when a phenomenon is occurs as a full moon, a planet really visible, which is worth the observation. The app also features an interactive 3D visualization of the stellar neighbourhood, including over 100000 nearby stars, and 3D visualization of the Milky Way. Free with in-app purchase for premium upgrade including: • Monthly updates, • More information displayed, • Live tiles without reminders, • More view unlocked, • Screenshot and full screen without UI available, • And much more! The best app ever

App response slow, intermittent. No help, no support. Many basic features only available in premium version. Bottom line - this app does not work.

I'm not an astronomer, so I can't verify if this app has any accuracy, but it looks right! Very fascinating!

Seems to hang up a lot. Non-intuitive. What few functions I could get to work seemed fine, but commands and gestures weren't consistent across views.

I cannot find any zoom options and I you should make it easier to change your location. THERE IS NO OPTIONS!

The program itself has potential however it does not work well on my Surface Pro 3. After using it for a short period of time none of the buttons seem to work to switch between the various sections of the application. The problem is that the button "hot spots" no longer line up with their screen icons. Initially I thought this was due to the calibration of the touch screen but using the track pad on the Surface Keyboard it is apparent that they are completely off center. For instance, hovering over the Sky View brings up the dialog for the phases of the moon. It actually takes a reboot to temporarily correct the problem. This essentially renders the program unusable. Probably an easy fix... I will upgrade my rating when this is fixed. Addendum: With this final reboot of the Surface the buttons now seem to work as they should. I am experiencing random crashes when moving back and forth within the program but I have added another star as the controls seem to be working as they should.

Interface is overly complex and glitchy. That said, it is still one of the best of these types of apps on the Windows Store...
