I see no option for organizing books into categories I create ("Collections"). I was accustomed to this feature on my LG tablet, but the Kindle app installed on my Toshiba Encore 2 lacks the "Collections" option. This makes the app useless to me.

I use the kindle reader on smartphones, notebooks and slates. It is equally legible, navigable amd delightful on all. I read in English, French, Spanish, Latin amd (rarely) Greek. I read indoors in poorly lit rooms at night, on the beaches in harshest light, even--may God have mercy on my soul--sometimes in steamy bathrooms or moving cars. The Kindle is the first great advance over the codex. BTW, I love books.

Amazon Kindle reader for Win8.* is pretty primitive. It has extremely limited options for configuring reading view (basically can only change font size and margins), no options for book-like backgrounds or other common capabilities. Kindle for Win8.* also does not even support standard gestures - e.g. you cannot change font size by manual zooming, and cannot even flip pages with a flick gesture - which is ridiculous for a book reader. The only good thing about this piece of software is that it can still download your book from Amazon and give you basic reading capabilities. Frankly speaking I found reading books via standard WEB browser more convenient and flexible than using Amazon Kindle app. All-up it appears to be done at the quality level of a 3-week intern project or something like that. Which is really a shame for Amazon, given how much Windows laptops and convertible devices are out there.

Seriously don't offer a free trial that breaks the program.

I suddenly started getting the message "The application encountered an unexpected error. Please restart the application. [108]" Even if I uninstall and reinstall, it doesn't help.
