The Times was a leader in the newspaper world when it came to entering the digital age. No longer! This app won't let me sign in (No problem on my iPhone) and there is no way to get any answer as to how to change it. I guess because it's free, they don't care.

Really too bad that the premier newspaper in the US has a such a mediocre App. There is no apparent help screen to advise you on simple things such as: How to read a saved article? You can save them but not retrieve them? And what is the purpose of saving an article if the app wont open off line? Why cant I download (even for a short time) the paper so I can read it when I have no connectivity? The Website is a lot better... better organized and better laid out. Hence the review title.. TOO BAD.

Have had nothing but trouble with this App since moving over from Kindle subscription. Support desk was absolutely no help in fixing issues. Uninstalled and re-installed, deleted cookies, everything tried but still denied access to unlimited account. Finally cancelled in total frustration.

For the life of me, I can't get the app to load on my Surface. It's driving me crazy!!

Surface RT and desktop (8.1) display "The New York Times" wait (clockwise spinning dots) icon. I am a subscriber and looking forward to changing my review to 5 stars.

The app doesn't work at all on my Windows Surface, running Windows 10. Have spent much time with the Times' technical support, to no avail. I'm cancelling my subscription immediately. I just wish there was a way to leave zero stars.

I have an electronic subscription which I read on my tablet. If I use nytimes.com I get a constant stream of pop up ads and demands that I subscribe, If I use the "app" I cannot choose the section but have to scroll through articles in your preference mode. This is new, Why?? I hate it, I'm about to cancel my subscription. .Rowena Conkling

This app used to work but now will not allow me to access the content that I subscribe to. Very frustrated. It works perfectly on my iPad. How come these same apps don't work on Surface as well as Apple. Anyone out there?

Does not allow to save articles. No place to sign in with NYT id,.

These news stories are an excellent brief addition to the limited news coverage of world and national news on both network and cable TV news that I watch every day as well as the local newspapers? For example, did you ever think how much these other media cover our neighbors in Latin America (beyond Mexico)? A great quick "Window to the World."

Clumsy, unfinished, buggy app. Cannot view the comments on articles.

This infuriating app thinks it knows better than me how I want to read a story. No matter where I move to in the story, it automatically snaps it back to position on every fourth column (a screenful). Why can't I position just where I want to be in the story, like I can on the index of stories screen? I don't know what the designer of this user interface was thinking of, but it certainly wasn't the user.

This format is terrible. Bring back the one prior.

NICE APP

I'm not sure why others complained. Gives you all the NYT headlines of the day. Most stories 1-12 hours old. Pleasure to read visually. Currently don't have NYT unlimited account but do get headlines from app.

Who calls 286 day old information "news"? The New York Times app.

I have constant problems with the NY Times windows 8 app. I noticed that it was last updated more than a year ago. There appears no way to update the app on the NY Times app site. This app doesn't work very well with windows 8. I recommend NYT readers to stop subscribing until they fix it. NY Times Subscribers should demand a refund to compensate for the dismal performance of their App.

I have 7day home delivery but every single time I try to use my login with my surface 3 it never works. Not occasionally but NEVER. There's no problem if I go through internet explorer, Google, or Mozilla. Just my surface. Big disappointment

Constantly requires log in. Once a year should be enough.

This app is broken, per customer service at the NY Times. You will not be able to look at more than 3 articles per day, even after you pay for unlimited access. You will get a log in error that tells you to try again later. I cancelled my subscription. Disappointing.

I have used this app for a number of months and the logon function is very unstable. Sometimes it works and then for days you can't logon

16 May 2015

NYT app does not work even if I have a web + smart phone subscription. I can log in but still only get 3 articles. It used to work. I have called and spoken with Tech Support a few times. Has promised to fixed this problem but it's been months now.

Some of the columns are truncated on the right side when in full screen mode. The columns next to ads are cut off.

The app is not letting me sign in, so I can only view 3 articles.
